<—– As you can see to the left, I have revived my Traineo.com account to try and again motivate myself to lose weight. This is my usual goal this time of year, so let’s see how well I do in 2009.
I have a few new tools that might help me along this year. I tested a few out over the last couple of months, and by putting them all together, it might just be the right mix.
First, I created a new blog dedicated to tracking what I eat. I simply take a picture with my phone, send it to my Flickr Blog e-mail address, and it posts it automatically to sethgetskinny.blogspot.com. Bam, easy way to revisit the things I ate, and shouldn’t have eaten.
Second, I revisited, and revived my Traineo account. And while I have had the account before, I haven’t been diligent about keeping it updated. I now have a calendar entry that reminds me each morning to update at minimum my weight for the day. I know there is conflict among the theorists about how often you should weigh yourself, but I try to do it daily for a constant reminder of what I’m up against.
Third, I signed up for our 10k A-Day program here at work. With my lovely new pedometer, I can track just how lazy I have been. With any luck, a daily reminder that I haven’t moved much will motivate me to do just that. I also track my steps on a site dedicated to our program, which allows me to view my history and reflect on my success or failure.
Lastly, I’ve decided to revisit my goal structure and finally set small goals, in shorter time frames. Instead of trying to pull Biggest Loser like numbers, I’m shooting for something more attainable. As you can see from the button to the left, I have 11 lbs. left to go this month.
I don’t plan on blogging about my weight loss triumphs much this year, unless I really want to pat myself on the back. I just wanted to share some of the technology tools I’m going to use.
Just be glad I’m not going to post a picture of me topless on a scale every week when I weigh in. Snootchie bootchies!
